KNOWLEDGE, THOUGHTS AND PRACTICES OF HEALTH PERSONNEL REGARDING POSTPARTUM BLUES: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

Aim: This descriptive study was conducted in order to determine the knowledge, opinions and practices of health personnel about postpartum blues. Method: The with 53 nurses/midwives, 29 family physicians 2 physician specialists working primary care institutions, 6 obstetricians pediatricians obstetrics pediatric clinics Söke district Aydın. It carried out a total 125 personnel. Data were collected according self-report participants questionnaire following official permissions. evaluated Chi-Square, Fisher Exact Kruskal Wallis H Mann Whitney-U tests p< 0.05 considered significant. Results: Participants’ mean age 39.78±7.31 years duration work 17.40±7.81 years; 81.6% women 44.8% had bachelor's degree. 70% who stated that they knew blues (56%) obtained their knowledge from vocational training (67.1%) moderate level knowledge. 66.4% see as problem, 63.6% helping mother 80% think should be trained. 45.6% encountered provided spousal support (61.4%), but themselves inadequate (79.2%) this regard. all community center clinics, well nurses/midwives 1st 2nd levels are insufficient (p<0.05). Conclusion: Health have positive thought blues, affected by institutional, professional individual factors. is important serving mothers planned continuous trainings before after graduation, make arrangements increase awareness.
